Mesh in general is any kind of 3D model described by a number of vertices, connected by a number of edges, forming a number of facets, building up its shape, with or without information about textures and normals. Mesh in OpenSimulator and Second Life usually refers to the COLLADA (Collaborative Design Activity) XML file format used in .dae (Digital Asset Exchange) files for 3D models and scenes, and managed by the Khronos Group. The most common software for creating mesh for OpenSimulator and Second Life seems to be the free and open source Blender.
